Abstract :
Media have become pervasive in our lives. It has changed the very definition of childhood. It is said that these days children grow up in front of screens and their lives are highly influenced by media messages. While spending considerable time with media, they have unintentionally adopted a sedentary lifestyle, which might result in various ailments and affect their health severely in many cases. Several researchers have documented that adolescents spend more than seven hours a day with media. Many thinkers and scholars haveinvestigated that there is a need of introducing media literacy pedagogy in the education system with theprimary purpose of teachingadolescents how to interpret media messages. Cognitive level of teenagers is lower as compared to adults; hence, they fail to interpret media messages in their true sense and get swayed by them.
