Abstract :
The Maharashtra report reveals that 30% of the senior citizens are faced serious physical and health related problems. This is the findings of the report recently released on ‘Status of the Elderly in Maharashtra, 2011’. This report brought out by the United Nations Population Funds (UNFPA) along with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Deonar, Mumbai. According to the report of (Population Reference Bureau, 2012), India's population ages 60 and older is projected to increase dramatically over the next four decades, from 8 percent in 2010 to 19 percent in 2050 (323 million older people). It may be a very difficult condition to maintain the health and fitness status of the seniors of the country. This will be a big challenge for the fitness professionals as well as to the Government. It was therefore felt necessary to undertake various research projects in the area of health and fitness of senior citizens, to maintain the health and fitness status of the seniors.
